What is a Wellness Action Plan?
A Wellness Action Plan (WAP), also known as a mental wellbeing care plan, is a tool created by the charity Mind to proactively manage mental health and wellbeing at work.
They encourage you to reflect on what keeps you well, identify potential triggers for poor mental health, and outline the types of support or adjustments that could help you thrive.
What are the benefits?
Using a WAP can help you to:
- Achieve better work-life balance – By recognising your triggers and what supports your productivity, you can work more sustainably and effectively.
- Build self-awareness – Understand what keeps you well and what might trigger difficulties, giving you practical tools to manage your wellbeing.
- Have open conversations – If you feel comfortable doing so, you can use your WAP as a guide to talk with your manager about mental health, helping reduce stigma and ensuring you get the right support.
- Access tailored support – Because your WAP is personal, it allows for adjustments and support that meet your specific needs.
- Spot early warning signs – Identify and address issues before they escalate, helping you stay well and in control.
- Boost confidence and empowerment – Having a clear plan can help you feel valued, supported, and able to perform at your best.
