Aging is a natural part of life, but the way we age is influenced by our lifestyle choices. Including but not limited to:
- Staying active is one of the most important factors in healthy aging. However, as people get older, they often experience a decrease in physical activity due to illness or injury
- Reduced work activities and increased static work postures due to online meetings can cause MSK issues and increase stress, fatigue and accumulative strain
- A drop in exercise frequency for example going to the gym once a week instead of multiple times can lead to reduced muscle mass and slower metabolism
- Shopping habits have changed over the years and people tend to shop online due to convenience instead of visiting physical shops which reduces physical activity
- Decreased outdoor activities which can lead to a lack of vitamin D which is crucial for bone health and your immune system
- A diet high in unhealthy fats, processed foods or sugar can contribute to cardiovascular diseases
- Previous lifestyle choices can impact you now, there is a link to contact sports such as rugby with developing motor neurone disease due to repeated head trauma
- Social isolation and poor sleeping habits can contribute to mental health issues
